pH Imbalance in Brain Cells May Contribute to Forgetfulness

According to new research out of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine One cause of forgetfulness may in fact be nothing more than a simple ph imbalance in the brain. This discovery was made using lab-grown mouse brain cells called astrocytes.

Astrocytes work to clear out the amyloid proteins from the spaces in between nerve cells. When there are problems with this process that the build up of amyloid proteins can be observed and the classic amyloid plaques begin to pile up around nerve cells. This leads to the type of nerve cell degeneration common in brain fog.

This new study, which was described online as a part of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, also reported that researchers also gave pH-imbalanced lab animals who also had a common brain fog gene variant a class of drugs known as histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors. This drug helped to reverse the pH imbalance and improved the efficiency of ridding the brain of Amyloid proteins.

This study potentially shows just how important pH balance is and could create new opportunities for treating forgetfulness. It also creates an opportunity for early intervention, which all scientists agree is critical in the treatment of forgetfulness and brain fog.

It’s well known that pH imbalances can affect not only brain health but overall health too. An imbalance in pH, particularly a shift toward acidity, is associated with various clinical conditions, such as a decreased cardiovascular output, respiratory distress, and renal failure.

It’s an important component of overall health and something that should be monitored.

A simple way to do that is to monitor your fluid intake and avoiding drinking alkalized water.
